- Description
- Rooms are decorated with pictures of furniture, both individual pieces cut from magazines and catalogs, as well as pictures of rooms; wallpaper scraps for carpets and walls. Includes an entrance hall, dining room, library, music room, and bedrooms, as well as rooms sparsely or erratically furnished. Several pages have cupboards which could be opened and hide paper doll dresses and other items; one is formed by a page containing a watercolor of flowers, but the others are made from colorful paper. Towards the back are now blank pages headed Birds, Beauties, Fishes, and Indians. Trade cards probably decorated these pages at one time. The last two pages have drawings of barns, the doors of which open to reveal dogs. Some loose items, including pictures of vases, a screen, and a window, are found towards the back. Menough lived in Oxford, Chester County, Pennsylvania. She was born July 27, 1887, the daughter of Harry A. and Mary L. Thompson Menough.
