- Description
- Only one item in this group of five can be identified by date, a list of songs and readings from the funeral of Elizabeth Copley held on February 5, 1899 (SA 1157.4). Three of the other four items are presumably from the same general time period. One is a short poem titled "My Covenant"; the name Annie Stephens is written on the reverse side (SA 1157.2). One is a list of hymns sung at a program held on Feb. 21, no year (but on paper watermarked 1894; SA 1157.3)). The third item is a hymn beginning "O my children says Mother be faithful and true," and was sent to Louisa Chamberlain by CV (SA 1157.1). This includes music in letter notation, as well as the words. The fourth item is a poem called "Our Thanks," written in the hand of Edward Deming Andrews (SA 1157.5). He notes that he copied the poem from the back of a packet of dwarf sugar pea seeds from the Shakers' New Lebanon, N.Y., seed business.
