- Description
- Manuscript volume was originally kept by Vail during the 1830s as a hymnal, with words and music. The music is written in letter notation, sometimes on music staffs, sometimes not. Not all the words are in English. Some sources are given. Two indexes are included, although they do not refer to the contents of this volume. During the 1870s and 1880s, the volume was used as a notebook, probably by Alonzo Giles Hollister (the name Alonzo is written inside the front cover). A rough copy of an essay, presumably written by Hollister, that was published in the Manifesto in 1883 or 1884, appears on 24 of the unnumbered pages.
