Consists of 16 panels of 27 numbered swatches each. The textiles are various kinds of Manchester printed cottons, velvets, dimities, quiltings, cords, diapers, and the like. The panels unfold outward from the center so that the subdued colors of all 432 swatches can be viewed together. On the reverse side of one of the panels is the inscription: Thomas Smith, Manchester, 23 August 1783.
