- Consists of sixteen lithographs depicting plans of the enlargement of the Massahusetts State Capitol Building. Longitudinal and transverse sections, plans for the cellar, and floor plans for the three story building are featured. Longitudinal and transverse sections, plans for the cellar, and floor plans for the three story building are featured. Bryant was the architect and J.H Bufford was the lithographer. Charles H. Warren, Adam W. Thaxter, Jr. and Samuel K. Hutchinson were listed as building commissioners on the illustrations. The Massachusetts State Capitol, usually called the State House, was designed by Charles Bulfinch was begun in 1795. The first addition to the original State House, made in 1831, was designed by Isaiah Rogers. A second addition, made 1853-1856 and designed by Bryant, completely enclosed the 1831 addition. This second addition provided room for a state library and for other state government offices. Both of the earlier additions were removed to make room for a third addition, constructed 1889-1895.
