Description
Manuscript book contains sixteen lessons in music composition and performance. Laid into the volume is a loose piece of paper, on one side of which is written "A hymn tune wrote in the common & improved form," signed R.H., dated Sept. 1852. This hymn (which begins "Come home my soul...") is written in letter notation on top and in another notation on bottom. On the other side is a lesson about intervals between music notes, written in the same notation as on the bottom of the other side.
