Description
Consists of hand-written recipes for such foods as Boston pudding, bread pudding, berry pudding, whipped cream, cup cakes, gooseberry jelly, raspberry jam, preserved quinces, preserved strawberries, currant wine, hot pudding sauce, a rich wedding cake, gingerbreads, various cakes and custards, frosting, etc. Also included are instructions for polishing mahogany furniture, dying hair, and removing grease from silk. A few remedies for such diseases as coughs and "cancer" are found in the volume as well. Inside the front and back covers are a few notes about clapboards, nails, shingles, and lumber, dated 1847. Volume has soft leather covers; text-block detached; pages and gatherings loose; text loss along some edges; severe staining.
