- Description
- Consists of recipes for food, medicine, and household hints, including making soap, pastries, puddings, cakes, bread, etc.; preserving fruits and vegetables; dyeing yarn; a method for imitating mahogany; mending china; preparing wine; and remedies for various ailments. Some of the recipes were copied from the Ohio Repository and the Ohio Almanac. Names at the end of other recipes indicate the source. A note about Andrew S. Rappe indicates that the Rappe family emigrated from France and ended up in America in 1808, eventually settling in Canton, Ohio. The volume is attributed to Grandmother Rappe, perhaps Andrew's wife. Volume has been rebound; pages are laminated.
