Trade cards, [ca.1890]
Consists of forty-one cards that depict different kinds of furniture and other domestic objects that could be painted with enamels. Depictions include embroidering frames, an ironing board, sideboards, tables, a refrigerator, a washing machine and clothes wringer, chairs, beds, clocks, bookcases, etc. Each illustrated piece is assigned to a room in the home; for example, the sideboard belonged in the dining room with an ice water stand, china closet, dining room table, and dining room chair (pictured on other cards). The rooms mentioned are kitchen, sewing room, laundry, chamber (i.e. bedroom), music room, sitting room, hall, parlor, library, and dining room. The set is not complete. As the cards also have numbers, it is possible that they were part of a card game.
