Winterthur House Construction Photographs

Photographed by the Sanborn Studio, of Wilmington Delaware, these black and white photographs document construction of a large addition to the Winterthur house in 1929-1930.  The efforts gone to saving the trees near the house as well as how far the workers had to dig into the hillside are documented as was removing the old porte cochere entrance and building the present conservatory.  Also shown are the building and landscaping of the stairs at the rear of the house that lead down to the swimming pool.
