Winterthur Period Rooms Stereoscopic Cards
This group of stereo cards was created in the 1930s when Henry Francis du Pont commissioned photography to document flower arrangements and seasonal changes of textile fabrics used in the rooms of the Winterthur house when it was a private home. The photography is credited to Robert V. Brost, photographer; Annette Karge, colorist; and the Keystone View Co.
Taken in 1935 and 1938, these views show how Mr. du Pont decorated rooms for the winter and summer seasons. Carpets, drapery, and upholstery were all changed as well as floral arrangements and vases. The old parquet flooring can be seen in some room views. Any rooms installed after 1938 were not photographed using this medium.
